A Bookmark Built to Survive the Bottom of a Bag
A plain paper bookmark curls, stains, and loses its corners in a week. A laminated bookmark printed on 16 Point Gloss Laminated stock does not. It starts as a thick 16pt card, prints full color, then seals under a clear gloss laminate on both sides, so it holds up as a bookstore giveaway, a classroom reading reward, or a slim insert in every shipped book.
The tall shape leaves room for a title, a QR code, or a reading tracker, and the shine gives artwork a finished look.
What Are Gloss Laminated Bookmarks
A gloss laminated bookmark is a full color bookmark with a glossy plastic film over the printed card, front and back. At 4OVER4 the lamination comes standard on every order, so the only choices are size, ink coverage, bundling and turnaround. If you want a softer, matte hand instead, see the Soft Touch Bookmarks.
Why lamination matters on a bookmark
Custom laminated bookmarks live somewhere hard. They get pushed into a bag, carried in a coat pocket, left on a kitchen counter and shoved back between pages, which is exactly where an unlaminated card gives up.
- Tear resistance. A bookmark is long and narrow, so it wants to bend across the middle. The film bonded to both faces holds the card together at that flex point instead of letting a crease turn into a split.
- Moisture. Sealed faces mean a wet hand, a drink ring or a rained-on tote does not soak into the fiber and cockle the card into a wave.
- Corner wear. Corners are where a card ages first. The film keeps the layers from separating, so the top corner stays sharp rather than going soft and furred.
- Deeper color. Gloss film sits over the ink and lifts it. Blacks read deeper and photographs hold more contrast than the same file printed onto plain uncoated card.
What Size Should a Gloss Laminated Bookmark Be
The 2" x 6" is the default and the everyday bookmark size, tall enough for a title, a logo, and a QR code without crowding. The 2" x 8" adds two inches of height for a longer message, a list of chapters, or a coupon along the bottom. Both keep the 2" width that slides between pages.
The design and the file are the last two choices before it prints.
Design it without a designer
Start from a layout in our bookmark design templates and change the colors, copy and logo in the online editor. The 2" x 6" canvas gives one bold idea room.
Artwork made outside the editor goes on the blank gloss laminated bookmark template, one for each size, with the bleed and safe margin marked so a title near the top edge stays inside the trim.
How Much Do Gloss Laminated Bookmarks Cost
A gloss laminated bookmark costs about $2 each in a set of 100 and near 14 cents each in a run of 5,000. A run of 1,000 is $289.25, or about 29 cents each. Slide to your count below for the total and the unit price.
Wally seals the bookmark so it actually lasts
Why a stack of gloss laminated bookmarks keeps working for months.

A hundred gloss laminated bookmarks costs $200.84, printed on a 16pt card and sealed under a glossy film on both sides. The laminate fights water, creases, and worn corners, so each one stays sharp inside a book. Pick 2" x 6" or 2" x 8", set your speed, and Wally ships them fast.
Personalized Bookmarks With Names or Codes
This gloss laminated build runs one design per order, which suits bookstore, launch and library runs where every bookmark is the same. When each piece has to carry its own name, class or code, order the standard bookmarks and set the Variable Data option, then supply your list as a spreadsheet. That build has no laminated stock, so pick a heavier cover such as 24pt Ultra Thick Gloss or add the High Gloss UV coating for shine.
What Ink Coverage Do You Need
With one stock, the real choice is ink. Run 4/0 to print the front and leave the back blank, or 4/4 to use both sides for a two-part design, a reading tip, or a second offer. For a smooth satin feel instead of high gloss, the Silk Bookmarks carry a different laminate at the same starting price.
Laminated bookmark questions people ask
How thick is a laminated bookmark?
The core is a 16pt card, and a gloss film is then bonded to each face, so the finished piece is thicker than the card on its own. It is stiff enough to push into a paperback without buckling and to sit flat rather than curling at the top.
Will the lamination peel or crack?
The bookmark is trimmed through the whole sandwich, so there is no loose flap of film at the edge to catch and lift. Folding a bookmark hard, back and forth in the same place, is the one thing that stresses it.
Can you punch a hole for a tassel?
Drilling is not offered on this gloss laminated build, which ships trimmed. The standard bookmark build offers a single 1/8" or 3/16" drilled hole.
Are laminated bookmarks waterproof?
Water resistant is the honest word. The faces are sealed, but the trimmed edge is still exposed card, so a bookmark left sitting in water will take it in from the sides.
How Do Gloss Laminated Bookmarks Compare to the Rest of the Range
The Velvet Laminated Bookmarks use the same 16pt core under a soft matte film. The chart below puts this bookmark beside the standard, magnet and soft touch bookmarks on price, stock and turnaround.

Where laminated bookmarks get used
- Schools. Reading rewards and summer challenge handouts go home in bags and come back. Order at the 1,000 or 2,500 break and shrink wrap them so each classroom gets a counted stack.
- Libraries. Opening hours, catalog instructions and event listings sit on the desk for a whole season.
- Book launches. One bookmark per copy, with the cover on one side and the next title on the other.
- Churches. Reading plans and service cards handed out weekly ride in a coat pocket between Sundays.
- Museum shops. A detailed artwork image on a bookmark sold in the shop rather than given away.
How Fast Can You Get Gloss Laminated Bookmarks
Gloss laminated bookmarks print on a 4 business day standard turnaround with laminating included, and when a date sneaks up you can move that to 3-day, 2-day, Next-Day or even Same-Day production out of the NYC plant. Each step buys back time for a set percentage on top of the base price, so you only pay for speed when you actually need it. Same Day orders need to be approved by the daily cutoff to ship that day, and 99.8% of 4OVER4 orders land on time with 82% shipping early.
