What Are Holographic Hangtags

Designing Around the Holographic Surface
Print goes on top of the light-shifting surface, so ink and effect compete for the same square inch. Heavy, full coverage ink mutes it: a tag flooded edge to edge with a dark solid comes back looking like a matte tag with a faint shimmer at the edges. Design for the gaps instead. Knock the logo out of a solid block so the shape itself shifts, leave the background unprinted and let type carry the ink, and use tints where you want color and shift at once. Save deep solids for small areas like a price panel or a barcode field, where flat ink helps.
What Size Should a Holographic Hangtag Be
Size follows the product it hangs on. The 2" x 2" default fits a shirt placket or a candle lid without covering it, with room for a logo and a price. A tall 2" x 6" reads like a bookmark down a sleeve, with a panel for care instructions or a story on the back. The 2.5" x 2.5" suits a clean price-and-brand tag, and the 4" x 6" is closer to a small card for a folded blanket, a gift box or anything sold as a set. A custom size is quoted in the configurator when none of the four fit.
What Lamination and Ink Should You Pick
Lamination comes included and takes the handling, the rack scuffs and the odd damp hand. Silk gives a smooth, low-sheen face that keeps the shimmer subtle, gloss makes the iridescence read brightest under store lighting, and velvet reads soft and premium to the touch, a quiet cover over a loud finish. What Premium Effects Can You Add
Add foil stamping on the front or back for a fixed metallic mark that stays legible while everything around it moves, or emboss a logo so it rises off the surface. Spot UV lays a gloss coat on select artwork, and edge painting adds a band of color around the rim. Cut the tag into a basic or a complex shape, round the corners to a 1/8" or 1/4" radius, or add scoring or perfing where the tag needs to fold or tear.

Should I pick foil or holographic
